“Today’s Loss is Tomorrow’s Fuel” — MFOL Statement on Trump's Victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. — There’s no sugarcoating it. Trump’s victory puts our essential rights and fundamental freedoms in jeopardy, and that includes our right not to be shot. Trump has explicitly said he intends to steamroll our democracy and exploit the presidency to roll back the progress we’ve made. The danger is clear.

But while we know this to be true, we also know that we have the power and ability to make change even in the harshest environments and in the deepest depths of adversity. March For Our Lives was founded in the shadow of the first Trump Presidency. If there’s one thing we know how to do it’s fight Trump.

To young people nationwide: It is okay to be sad, disheartened, and rightfully, pissed off. The future is uncertain, danger lurks, and challenges lie ahead. But we will not lose hope. We will not bow down. And we will not give up. We have organized, fought back, and marched for our lives, and we will continue to do so. These results do not change our work. It does not change what we know, which is that our lives are on the line, but the fight is worth it. So we will do what we do best and fight on.
