Trump Administration dismantles crucial ATF policy that held lawbreaking gun dealers accountable, signaling a direct handout to those flooding communities with illegal firearms:

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 7, 2025 — Reports indicate that Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the removal of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Enhanced Regulatory Enforcement Policy, sometimes called the “zero-tolerance” policy, that empowered law enforcement to crack down on rogue gun dealers violating federal law. In response to this reported dangerous reversal, March for Our Lives Executive Director Jackie Corin released the following statement:

“By eliminating the ATF’s zero-tolerance policy, the Trump administration is allowing law-breaking gun dealers to flood our communities with illegal guns. This decision deliberately protects the 5% of dealers responsible for 90% of crime guns, giving them a free pass to continue their dangerous practices without consequences.

This isn’t about protecting Second Amendment rights – it’s about letting criminals operate unchecked. By removing this crucial oversight, Trump and Bondi are telling these law-breaking dealers that profits matter more than the lives being destroyed by their illegal weapons.

MFOL was founded during Trump’s first term when we saw his complete failure to address gun violence. Now, just months into his second term, he’s already dismantling the progress we’ve made and empowering the very criminals who terrorize our schools and communities.

Young Americans will not accept an administration that time and time again chooses gun industry profits over our safety. March For Our Lives will continue mobilizing young people across the country to hold this administration and the gun lobby accountable for every life lost due to their reckless policies and to demand common-sense solutions that actually protect our communities.”
