March For Our Lives Applauds New Executive Actions by the Biden-Harris Administration to Combat Gun Violence

NEW YORK, NY — March For Our Lives applauds the Biden-Harris administration’s latest executive actions aimed at curbing gun violence and saving lives and the extremely productive first year of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. These actions underscore why we fought so hard to establish this office, and why we must defend it against Trump’s promises to dismantle it.

From tackling machinegun conversion devices and 3D-printed guns to increasing investments in community violence intervention programs and equipping educators and lawmakers with additional resources, these bold measures reflect the administration’s continued commitment to addressing the gun violence epidemic and prioritizing our lives.

These actions were announced just days after the one-year anniversary of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. March For Our Lives was the first national group to call for a dedicated office of gun violence prevention in 2019, and after years of concerted pressure and organizing from youth activists and survivors, the President finally heard our demands and even credited us with the office’s creation. Over the past year, the Office of Gun Violence Prevention has worked to coordinate a whole-of-government approach, harnessing federal resources and expertise to address the root causes of gun violence. This centralized strategy has been instrumental in creating more cohesive and effective efforts across agencies while elevating the urgency of gun violence prevention at all levels of government.

“The Biden-Harris administration is proving that their commitment to our safety goes beyond mere thoughts and prayers, and we were enthused to be at the White House to celebrate these new executive orders,” said Natalie Fall, Executive Director of March For Our Lives. “March For Our Lives advocated for the establishment of this office because we believe in its power to create meaningful change, and now we’re seeing the fruits of that labor. Lives are being saved right now, that’s a fact. For young people across the nation, this is a victory, but we know our work is far from finished. Trump has promised to reverse the hard fought gains that we’ve won under President Biden. We cannot let that happen. Our fight continues, under this administration, and far beyond.”
