Governor Abbott is Wrong: Raising the Age is Constitutional and Reasonable

Austin, Texas – “The Governor’s comments are patently untrue, and recent history proves it. After the shooting in Parkland, then-Governor Rick Scott, a hardline Republican, raised the age to buy an assault rifle in Florida.

Doing so in Texas is not only constitutional, it could have prevented the Uvalde massacre if Governor Abbott had taken action after any of the numerous mass shootings that occurred with an assault rifle under his watch. It’s time for the Governor to honor Uvalde by preventing the next mass shooting.”
